Updating Property Records

The Delhi Township Assessing Department is continuing the process of updating individual property record cards on all homes within the Township. It is important to periodically review all properties within a neighborhood at the same time to help ensure that all our properties are fairly assessed. Additionally, the State Tax Commission recommends inspections of 20% of all properties each calendar year and audits that guidance.

To accomplish this project, given the current COVID-19 situation, appraisers will be conducting a desktop inspection, rather than in-person. This will be done for your safety, and the safety of our staff. These inspections will be completed utilizing all available information sources, including but not limited to the Township’s Geographic Information System (GIS), drive-by inspection, information available online, property websites, and real estate listings.

Our records are most accurate when property owners assist us in verifying information.  If you would like to assist us in updating/verifying your property information, please click on this link to open an electronic form which will be emailed directly to the Assessing Department.

 In addition, Data Verification Questionnaires were mailed to some neighborhoods which were due for reinspection. Your assistance in completing the questionnaire and returning it to our office is appreciated. The neighborhoods that received the Questionnaires in 2020 are as follows: Holbrook Hills & Cedar Ridge, Edgewood / Hunt Acres, Cole Subdivision, The Gardens (Phase 1), Hunters Glen and The Dells. Also, Meadow Ridge subdivision and the English Meadows, Country View and Deerfield Estates subdivisions.  A second phase of questionnaires was mailed to the following neighborhoods: River Pointe & Sycamore Shores; Lamoreaux 1-3, Beaufort, Beech Ridge & Dell Ridge; Aspen Springs, Aspen Circle, and Aspen Center, as well as the Duling Farms, Moorwood 1-4, Loch Woode Estates & Grovenburg Farms subdivisions. Property Owners are encouraged to complete the questionnaires as well as review their property information available online. Questionnaires and inquiries can be submitted via mail, email at Assessing@delhitownship.com, or faxed to 517-694-3316.

Assessing Department Re-Inspection Program

The Delhi Township Assessing Department will be commencing work on its annual re-inspection program in a portion of the township’s residential neighborhoods beginning in early May and continuing into the autumn months. The Michigan State Tax Commission recommends each local unit of government to re-inspect approximately 20% of each class of properties each year to assure accurate and equitable assessments.

Schedule

Township assessing department staff will be visiting various residential neighborhoods throughout the spring, summer and into the autumn months. The employees will be wearing a visible Delhi township issued ID badge for identification purposes and will be going from door to door. An interior inspection and/or verification of information takes approximately 10 minutes and the exterior measurements should be verified. Postcards have been or will be sent to affected property owners.

For those property owners not at home, an orange door tag with a contact telephone number will be left. Those receiving a door tag are encouraged to call and schedule an inspection. If staff is unable to verify records an estimated assessment will be determined.

Online Property & Tax Information

View the property and tax information website. There you can look up information regarding sewer accounts, property taxes, special assessments, building information and even look at photos of houses and buildings. It’s available free of charge, 24 hours a day.
