Kiwanis Club of Holt

"Working together for a better community"

The ultimate slide at Kids Day

Are you looking for a way to get involved in your community? The Holt Kiwanis Club offers an opportunity to participate in community projects while making new friends and forming a community wide network.

Our projects include sponsoring a student club (Key Club) in the High School, a twice-monthly bowling league for individuals with disabilities, an Easter Egg Hunt, a Kids Day (last year over 1000 children participated) and a Christmas program for children, complete with Santa Claus.

Help us design new projects and work on existing programs. Some members choose to attend weekly dinner meetings and work on projects; others just participate in community or youth projects. Be our guest for dinner any Monday night at the Sam Corey Senior Citizen Club House, 6:30 P.M. Contact one of the following individuals at their e-mail: Hugh Lockhart, lckhrt@msu.edu or Karla Janing, kjaning@hpsk12.netWe look forward to hearing from you.

Elephant Rides at Kids Day

January Paper Drive was COLD!

We collect 150,000 pounds of newspaper per year for recycling. We hold 2 collection days, 6 times a year at Holt Plaza, corner of Holt & Aurelius Roads. We have been recycling newspapers for over 20 years.

We hold blood drives every two months at the Holt Methodist Church, Corner of Aurelius and Cedar Street. We have collected over 1400 units since 1996.

Holt Kiwanis is part of a worldwide organization of service clubs. There are almost 300,000 members in 8,416 local clubs in 79 nations.

Kiwanis and Lions partner in many community projects. Among the biggest are Kids Day and the Christmas tree lighting festival. We decompress at occasional Euchre card tournaments, known fondly as Euchre-offs. Lions won the first Occasional Euchre-off, Kiwanis won the second, and Lions came back strongly, winning the third. The fourth Euchre-off will be soon.
